Support Finley Cunningham

 In Family Sponsorship

Your support for Finley and our family over the past four years has been both amazing and humbling. We are so grateful for your encouragement from the first ultrasound when it was discovered that she had a hole in her skull, through the fetal MRI’s showing she was missing the center of her brain and the 15 surgeries to provide for neurological and cranial repair, vision, feeding, and hearing interventions. Through all the therapies and strategies we have pursued you have been right there with us cheering us on as advocates. You have watched her story up close and through our CaringBridge updates. Your support has made the difference for our family as we have made tough decisions that affect not only Finley, but our entire family.

To this day Finley continues to be significantly behind her peers. She is non-verbal, unable to walk, has damage to her optic nerves affecting her vision, is a poor eater and has a history of seizures. We are continually researching new approaches and therapies that could aid in moving Finley forward.

We have recently discovered Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and believe this treatment could be crucial for Finley’s development. This therapy uses a pressurized hyperbaric chamber to deliver more oxygen to the cells than the body can do on its own. In doing so, it helps to create new pathways which are critical in enhancing Finley’s quality of life. In many cases, HBOT has improved the client’s fine and gross motor skills, cognitive ability, vision, physical healing, seizure control and cortical vision impairment. We’ve learned there is a non-profit facility just west of Toledo that we can go to called Sara’s Garden.

Unfortunately, in the United States, insurance companies do not recognize HBOT as being therapeutic for the treatment of brain injuries or seizures and therefore will not cover the cost for treatments despite the positive stories of tremendous benefits that can come from even one round of therapy. That is why we could really use your help. HBOT for Finley is only $100 per treatment at Sara’s Garden. However, since our plan is for her to receive at least one round of 40 HBOT treatments (twice a day, 5 days a week for 4 weeks) that cost adds up quickly to $4,000. That means in one month, we could see the benefits of this therapy!

Sara’s Garden understands the financial strain that therapy costs can place on families and has a sponsorship program available to help with the cost of treatments. These costs include the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and other services (therapies, education and lodging) available at the facility. If you could assist us with the cost (or even just part of the cost) of a single $100 HBOT treatment it would help reduce our overall expenses greatly. 100% of the funds received go into an account in Finley’s name and will be used for her treatments.

Any contribution made would be considered a tax-deductible donation as Sara’s Garden is a 501(c)(3) non-profit facility. Checks can be made out to Sara’s Garden with Finley’s name on a sheet of paper accompanying the check. Please do NOT write her name directly on the check. You can also donate online via credit card by clicking on the DONATE NOW below. Your involvement in making this therapy a reality for Finley is truly appreciated.

We feel strongly that this therapy could yield priceless results and improved opportunities for Finley’s future development. We thank you for your continued support of Finley and our family! We are excited to share Finley’s outcomes with you soon!
