Support Melanie Dzyak
Dear family and friends,
As many of you are aware, Melanie found out last Christmas that her two-and-a-half years of unexplained “episodes” were actually seizures caused by the presence of a rare epidermoid brain cyst. After waiting fifteen weeks in order to finish her senior year at UT College of Pharmacy, Melanie had surgery to remove the cyst three days after graduating. While the procedure was considered a success, Melanie awoke to stroke-like symptoms after surgery.
Melanie’s entire right side, from her eyes to her toes, was greatly affected. Melanie spent 30 days in the hospital and has been going to outpatient therapy a few times a week the past few months. Her speech and memory as well as the use of her leg are back to normal. However, she still has considerable deficits in her eyes, arm and hand.
In researching additional treatment options, we recently discovered Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and learned how it has been extremely successful in treating people who suffer from strokes and stroke-like symptoms. In many cases it has improved the client’s fine and gross motor skills, speech, thinking (cognition), memory, vision, physical healing, etc. We learned that there is a non-profit facility right here in Northwest Ohio that we can go to called Sara’s Garden. Sara’s Garden specializes in working with clients with traumatic brain injuries.
Unfortunately, in the United States insurance companies do not recognize Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as being therapeutic for the treatment of stroke and therefore will not cover the cost for treatments. That is why we could really use your help. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Melanie’s condition is only $100 per treatment at Sara’s Garden. However, since our plan is for her to receive at least one round of 40 HBOT treatments that cost adds up quickly.
If you could assist us with the cost (or even just part of the cost) of a single $100 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatment it would help reduce our overall expenses greatly. 100% of the funds received go into an account in Melanie’s name and will be used for her treatments. Any contribution made would be considered a tax-deductible donation as Sara’s Garden is a 501(c)(3) non-profit facility. Checks can be made out to Sara’s Garden with Melanie’s name on a sheet of paper accompanying the check. Please do NOT write her name directly on the check. You can also donate securely online via credit card by clicking on the button below.
We are hopeful that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy will help Melanie recover and regain even more independence.
Thank you so much for considering to support Melanie’s treatments at Sara’s Garden!
