Support Shereece Holmon
Imagine going through life vibrant, healthy, thriving, and living life to the fullest in the city that never sleeps. Yes! NYC, where I lived for 18 years. This was my 20 something experience. Me! Shereece Holmon. A uniquely artistic, colorful being from Dayton, Ohio, living my dream; a dream that would eventually turn into a nightmare.
By the age of 27, my life would take a drastic turn for the worse when I fell ill and was diagnosed with Scleroderma. Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. My joints, especially in my fingers, tend to harden and it can be extremely challenging to do basic tasks like pick up a pot to cook. Not only have I had to deal with scleroderma, I have been battling two non-healing chronically painful ulcers on my legs.
Over the past 22 years, I have set out on a holistic mission to heal myself. I have since moved back home to Dayton, OH, because it was too hard to take care of myself and needed the support of my family and friends. Thankfully, they’ve done just that. A few months ago, I encountered another devastating blow to my health and had to move in with my mother to assist in caring for me. I have recently been diagnosed with Lyme disease. My illness has gotten progressively worse over the years causing severe pain and deterioration of my physical body, as well as taken a toll on me both physically and mentally.
Sometimes, I’m absolutely heartbroken at the idea of my physical limitations. I can’t imagine my world without being sick and that scares me. Lately, I’ve been asking myself what my life would my life look like if I was healed. What would my new normal be? I’ve tried many different modalities for healing, but just can’t seem to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
By grace, I’ve recently learned about an alternative, natural treatment option called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). I’ve learned that HBOT has been extremely successful in treating people who suffer from Lyme disease and non-healing wounds. HBOT acts as an anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal agent. It has been shown to reduce pain significantly, alleviate sleep dysfunction, and reduce cognitive impairment. It also decreases inflammation and swelling, increases energy, and increases the body’s white blood cell activity, boosting the immune system and promoting healing. I learned that there is a non-profit facility in Northwest Ohio that I can go to called Sara’s Garden. HBOT for my condition is only $150 per treatment at Sara’s Garden (as opposed to $1,500-2,500 per treatment at a hospital). Unfortunately, my insurance company will not cover the cost of the treatments. Since my plan is to receive at least 40 HBOT treatments that cost adds up quickly (and doesn’t even include our costs for transportation, food and lodging).
That is why we could really use your help. If you could assist us with the cost (or even just part of the cost) of a single $150 treatment it would help reduce my overall expenses greatly. 100% of the funds received will go into an account in my name and will be used for my treatments. Any contribution made would be considered a tax-deductible donation as Sara’s Garden is a 501(c)(3) non-profit facility. Checks can be made out to Sara’s Garden with my name written on a sheet of paper accompanying the check. Please DO NOT write my name directly on the check itself. You can also donate securely online via credit card by clicking on the DONATE NOW button below.
With your help I have that chance at a life worth living, a life I deserve. At my core, I want to live a life free of pain, free of worry, medicine, and doctor’s appointments, and live life as I once did as a young adult. Nothing would bring me more joy than to delve back into doing all the things I’m passionate about. Although I’m smiling on the outside, life has become difficult for me. My friends and family can’t begin to understand the agony I have endured while being sick. It’s not enough for me to live with being sick. I want to be healthy….to be free! I envision myself being at peace and sharing my gifts with the world instead of just existing in it.
I want to rediscover myself, live my purpose and reignite my passion for life again. Thank you for your support towards my healing at Sara’s Garden.
