As many of you are aware, on August 14th, while working at the beauty shop, I began to experience eye pain, mental fogginess and extreme fatigue. I felt like I needed to take a nap in order to get through the day. I knew something just wasn’t right but told myself that a nap would remedy the situation.

My sister Amy drove me home so I could rest. After I woke up from the nap, Amy noticed that my facial movements appeared asymmetrical and didn’t think I was acting like myself. I was taken to the emergency room where the doctors discovered that I had suffered a stroke. After spending 8 days in the hospital being treated for the stroke, I was transferred to a trauma center when I experienced heart failure. After 9 days of treatment to stabilize my heart, I was finally discharged and able to return home.

I continue to experience residual side effects from the stroke, including intermittent short-term memory loss and right eye peripheral vision impairment. With medications, physical restrictions and various therapies my heart seems to be improving. However, I am still unable to return to my jobs for bus driving and hair styling. I am also still not allowed to operate a vehicle.

We have recently discovered Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and learned that it has been extremely successful in treating people who suffer from strokes. In many cases HBOT has improved the client’s fine and gross motor skills, speech, vision, thinking (cognition), memory, physical healing, etc. We learned that there is a facility right here in Northwest Ohio that we can go to called Sara’s Garden. Sara’s Garden specializes in working with clients with traumatic brain injuries such as a stroke.

Unfortunately, in the United States insurance companies do not recognize HBOT as being therapeutic for the treatment of stroke and traumatic brain injuries and therefore will not cover the cost for treatments. That is why we could really use your help. HBOT for my condition is only $100 per treatment at Sara’s Garden. However, since our plan is for me to receive at least 40 HBOT treatments that cost adds up quickly.

If you could assist us with the cost (or even just part of the cost) of a single $100 HBOT treatment it would help reduce our overall expenses greatly. 100% of the funds received go into an account in my name and will be used for my treatments. Any contribution made would be considered a tax-deductible donation as Sara’s Garden is a 501(c)(3) non-profit facility. Checks can be made out to Sara’s Garden with my name on a sheet of paper accompanying the check. Please do NOT write my name directly on the check. You can also donate online via credit card by clicking on the DONATE NOW button below.

My goal is to return to work to provide stability for my family. Thank you so much for considering to support my treatments at Sara’s Garden! Your prayers and financial support are appreciated more than you could ever possibly imagine.
