Sara’s Garden has Never Let Us Down

Sara’s Garden has Never Let Us Down

Our daughter has participated in three Conductive Education camps over the course of the last two and a half years. She has had around 57 sessions at Sara’s Garden. Prior to our introduction to Conductive Education, our daughter received a combination of traditional services, which included Occupational, Physical, Aquatic and Speech therapies. Thanks to the positive results of Conductive Education, our daughter is reaching new levels and continuously learning new skills.

Our now-6 year old daughter, Jordan, suffered from hyproxia at birth, resulting in a brain injury responsible for global delays and a diagnosis of mixed-tone cerebral palsy. Only a small percentage of children with cerebral palsy have mixed tone, which can be defined as a combination of spastic, athetoid, and/or ataxic cerebral palsy. The spastic cerebral palsy generates high muscle tone, while the athetoid cerebral palsy causes involuntary movements. The ataxic cerebral palsy causes low muscle tone, a lack of balance and unsteady hands. Jordan has high muscle tone in some muscles, and low muscle tone in others.

We chose Sara’s Garden so that our daughter could receive high quality services incorporating the values, principles and practices of Conductive Education in a positive, caring environment – and the staff at Sara’s Garden has never let us down. Over the past two years, they have helped provide her with inspiration, confidence and a positive attitude towards developing her physical abilities. At Sara’s Garden, there is an emphasis on ensuring that each child becomes as independent as possible, and the resulting overall progress has been a joy for me and my husband to see.

We are amazed with the advancements Jordan has made in such a short time. She has been using a walking frame for two and a half years; but through her own continued hard work and the on-going efforts of the Sara’s Garden staff, Jordan started independently walking distances up to 50 feet during the 4 week Summer Camp this past July! We keep up the hard work in our time away from Sara’s Garden, but nothing compares to a qualified and caring conductor like the ones at Sara’s Garden.

My Son is Excited About School Now!

My Son is Excited About School Now!

It continues to amaze me day in and day out the impact your school has had on many kids. We are continually grateful for all of the wonderful things your staff does to make ever child feel appreciated and loved. On Wednesday of this week I was nervous to tell my son that he was going to school while his brother and I had the day off. When he asked me where he was going for the day, I told him he was going to school. His response was, “Oh Yeah!” Never before have we seen him so excited about school and so eager to share. Thanks again for everything that you do to make every child feel loved and welcomed.

Your Sensory Services are Making a Difference

Your Sensory Services are Making a Difference

When our son hears loud noises, he used to get really quiet and withdrawn and then would start screaming and crying and throwing a fit.

Since he has started Sensory Integration services at Sara’s Garden, we have noticed that he is throwing fits less and  is finding other ways to deal with it. Yesterday we went to my parents’ church for their Easter service. They had a huge processional with Jesus coming down the aisle to very loud drums and music. He watched intently. After the processional, we had the normal worship music. During this time he stood in front of me and had me put my hands over his ears and he just stood there. He then told me that the music was too loud. I was able to squeeze him the way he showed me that Mrs. Michelle did it that he liked and his body immediately started relaxing. He was able to deal with the loud music without crying or screaming. He was then fine through the rest of the service.

I wanted to share this story with you and thank you so much for everything that you are doing to help my son. I cried during church yesterday in relief that he is getting the tools he needs “to cope” (as he tells me) with his world. I truly feel you are an answer to my 4 year long prayer for help and direction for him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are making such a difference not only in my son’s life, but in so many other lives as well.

We Love the New Sensory Room

We Love the New Sensory Room

“The new multi-sensory room at Sara’s Garden is an awesome addition to what they already offer Maddy. I believe his senses are heightened to a level not seen since before his brain injury. The use of textures, music, lighting and motion, in conjunction with Michelle’s expertise in sensory integration, has made Maddy more aware of his environment. This is evident in the amount of eye contact, and the increased ability to reach out purposely for what he wants.”

So Many Improvements

So Many Improvements

Our son has a TBI from a car accident he was involved in. He went through HBOT treatments at Sara’s Garden 11 years after his accident. I can see a lot of improvement in his attitude and facial features. His eyes are so much clearer now, he is much happier and he says that he feels better physically. We are so glad he went to Sara’s Garden.

I’m Living a Miracle!

I’m Living a Miracle!

“I feel like I am living a miracle. I was told year after year all the things that my son would never be able to do. After our time doing ABA services at Sara’s Garden, those very same teachers and doctors are now amazed at what they see in my son and have commented that they have never before seen a child improve as fast as he has.”

“There are no words with which to express the magnitude of greatness we feel about Sara’s Garden. In so many, many ways you have changed not only our daughter’s life, but our entire family. Your generous support is amazing!”

Thank You for Everything!

Thank You for Everything!

“Thank you very much for everything you have done for me while I was receiving treatments at Sara’s Garden. Everything you’ve done has been appreciated very much! Especially coming into work at 6am so that I could continue to heal and play basketball at the same time. I will never forget all the wonderful ways Sara’s Garden has impacted my life.”

Nothing Short of a Miracle

Nothing Short of a Miracle

“Our son sustained severe head trauma after falling out of our van headfirst onto the pavement. The surgeon later told us that he did not think he would survive the surgery. He was in an induced coma for days in hopes of stopping the intense seizures that he was having. Our doctors told us that he would have a long, slow road to recovery ahead of him.

After getting released from the hospital we immediately came to Sara’s Garden for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and immediately saw fantastic results. After a couple weeks we returned to the hospital for a followup visit. His doctors were amazed at his progress.

When we told them we had been doing HBOT their comment was that while those in the medical profession are skeptical of HBOT, whatever we were doing we should not stop but continue doing on with it. They said his recovery was nothing short of a miracle!”
