2022 NHA Fun Run/Walk Recap

We held our first ever NHA Family Fun Run/Walk event on Sunday, October 23 at the Blue Creek Metropark in Whitehouse, Ohio. We were very blessed to have an absolutely beautiful day for the event!

We had 142 people participate in this event. Participants ran, walked, pushed and pulled strollers, wagons and wheelchairs in both the 1K walk and 5K run.

Thank you to everyone who came out in support of our this event. Not only did we celebrate NHA’s 10th Anniversary… we also raised funds to support the inclusive playground project at our NHA Springfield campus.

Don’t forget! The 2022 “Drive Fore Hope” Charity Golf Scramble is just around the corner. We still have spots available to get your team signed up. We have put together a fun-filled day at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio and hope to see you there!

All proceeds from this event will be used towards the purchase of therapy equipment for our clients and students at Sara’s Garden and New Horizons Academy. Sara’s Garden is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is the only facility in the United States to offer Autism Intervention, Conductive Education, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Sensory Integration and Speech-Language Pathology services.

The new Defiance College chapter of RallyCap Sports has a vision of hosting recreational sports for children and young adults with special needs.

To kickoff their new chapter, they are hosting a FREE softball minicamp!

  • When: April 24th and May 1st
  • Time: 2:00 – 3:00pm
  • Where: Justin F. Coressel Stadium (detailed directions upon registering)
  • All boys and girls, ages 6 and up, with any special needs are welcome
  • No softball/baseball experience necessary – and all equipment provided
  • Each participant will be matched up one-on-one with a Defiance College student!

We’re “Koo Koo” for a take-out spaghetti dinner fundraiser!

On behalf of New Horizons Academy at Sara’s Garden, the Koo Koo Kommittee is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Take-Out Spaghetti Dinner Fundraising Event on Saturday, Feb 12, 2022. The purpose of this event is to raise funds needed to bring the group “Koo Koo Kangaroo” to our school for a concert in the spring for our students at New Horizons Academy Holland and New Horizons Academy Wauseon.

Staff and students of New Horizons Academy will provide all the labor for cooking, serving and cleaning up, while donations will make the meal possible along with all of the character-building and life skills opportunities that come from an event like this. We are proud to provide this opportunity to support our students and their activities at our school.

The money raised through this event will help defray the cost of the concert we are working to provide for our students, with any additional funds going into an account to use for future endeavors for our students.

We are excited to be planning this concert for an end of the school year activity for our students. We are asking for your financial support to help defray the cost of the spaghetti dinner and potential future student events. Your financial support or “in kind” donations will help New Horizons Academy and our students.
